45lc load for matched pair pistol
I have a guy that reloads for me but he doesn't have much info for the 45 colt in a pistol. I would like something for target and hunting. The hunt could involve pigs with the 45 as a backup or close up shooter. I contacted Rossi tech and was told no +p ammo but any saami approved stuff would work. My problem is with ammo shortage and finding anything local makes my choices slim to none. Advice on bullet type, weight, and powder would go a long way in enjoying this pistol.

Re: 45lc load for matched pair pistol
Good morning
I am very fond of the Lee 250 grain RNFP with 8 grains Unique. Cast of 75% range scrap and 25% WW the boolit drops at 265 grains. It penetrates well and tears a nice hole. May not exit a 300 pound hog but will sure get it's attention and has not hurt any of my Colt SAA revolvers.

looks like mike is, as usual, pretty close to what i am doing.
i use the 250 rnfp from lyman [the 452664] with 8.3 grs of unique in my usfa's.
right about the same alloy too.
