Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
Perhaps as controversial as taking a new guitar and "aging" it, or new jeans, or... whatever. For better or worse here goes.
The cracks and splits were put in with varying size knives, and superficial only. The wider knives (wider angle to the grind) got chased with narrower to give the illusion of depth. The same dye was used over the blemsishes, the one final coat of linseed/japan-drier.

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
The fore stock was given the same treatment as the shoulder stock.

Re: Official R92 Picture Thread
Some detail on the fore stock "splits".
I've done a fair number of guitars (I build guitars too, better than I play, I should add!). Tried to use the skills gained there on the Rossi. Things as making splits follow the grain - almost, as true splits will wander a bit. Watching the endgrain when making splits appear three dimensional (as in these pictures). Varying the methods and location of the damage and wear too.
At any rate, pictures are brutal (ask any celeb!), but at casual and first glance, I think the Time Machine did at least a decent job, if you accept that its not sacrilege to even attempt.

I look at it as carving up new jeans for the look. I don't get it and think it's kind of silly.
