Buttie...You can hold the ejector in place in its bolt recess (holding the spring and collar in position) with a dummy round. Insert the ejector w/collar into the bolt. Then place the dummy into position against the bolt face (hooked under the extractor) and pressing down to compress the ejector spring. While holding this assembly together, insert the bolt and dummy round into the receiver until the dummy round enters the chamber. Leave this entire assembly in the receiver until after you reinstall the lever pin in the bolt. Hope this helps.

Well that actually isn't a bad outcome given the situation you were in. It isn't like the rifle malfunctioned or anything. You got in a jam as a result of your disassembly procedure and they are making it right for you for $50......doesn't sound too bad at all. Good luck

Got the rifle back yesterday. It cycles the action now, still need to check if it goes bang. Screws are a bit mared up and I don't think it was me. Also need to see if it is still putting dings on the case when extracting a spent round.

It goes bang! After testing, I took it apart to upgrade the ejector spring. There was lots of crud and loose screws found. Got it all cleaned, reassembled and it now ejects unmarred brass. I used the Century C530 spring ans now have 9 spares. ;-)
