Couldn't find a "follower" thread specifically about 44, so here ya go!

(It's kinda ugly but it works.)

You will need:
empty brass cases: 7mm mag, 44, and 40 s&w
hacksaw or dremel cutoff disc, etc
silver solder or JB Weld
torch
file, sandpaper.

7 mag, 44, 40

A 7mm mag case head won't go through the hole from the magazine to the receiver,
a 40 s&w will.
The mag spring will fit in a 44 mag or spl case.
So cut 'em up & stick 'em together.

I cut the 7 mag case about 3/16" above the belt, dimension not critical.
Cut the 40 case to make the distance from the 7 mag belt to the 40 case head about .512" (same as the
plastic one). That's the part that sticks out into the receiver.
Cut the 44 case to hold a couple turns of the spring, dimension not critical. If it turns out to take up
too much space in the mag it can be shortened later.

Tumble/clean the brass parts. I dropped a pinch of solder in the primer pockets between the cases, then
applied flux with a brush. The 7 and 44 cases attach headstamp to headstamp. The 40 fits into the
"collar" or new case mouth left from trimming the 7 (I rounded the edge hoping it would center itself in the receiver each time). On a flat surface it wasn't hard to stack 'em up to solder both joints at once.
Don't blow the cases over with the torch! Also probably don't want them to turn red and get annealed.

Mine stuck out into the receiver too far and blocked the lifter. I just cut off the 40 rim and it turned out to be
just right. Polished it up and installed.

Now I want to make a "magazine unloader" plug that doesn't need to be unscrewed, saw that in here somewhere. Maybe I could do it...
