Well... The best I could do with 4227 was 10-shot groups just under 5" at 100 with a compressed load at about 1430fps. A middle charge of H110 was getting me just under 4" groups averaging 1460fps. This was all with 0.358 diameter bullets. A max charge of H110 was pushing them to 1520fps, but the group opened up a bit.
The groove diameter on this rifle is about 0.3555" so I got a Lee sizing die and squished some bullets down to 0.357 and shot a 2.75" 5-shot group. I had a dead battery in the chronograph when I got to the range that day and it was a rushed trip, so I'm going to do one more trip to do more shooting with the 0.357" bullets. I'm not experienced enough to know if I'm just getting lucky with some groups or if all this messing around is really making a difference. It does seem like some load combinations really make all the shots open up quite a bit, so I'm hopeful I'm on the right path.
