Rossi Rifleman

I picked up another R92 this morning, A 16" .357. This one is dated '19 and its slick and functions flawlessly. I'm thinking CBC is building a darn nice lever gun.

Hey 80rt, I've now got 2 16"ers in 357. Keep one up at the house, the other goes with me down to the shop. Really like how light and handy they are.

Hi Gunny, the 20" does door duty at home and the 16" goes where I go. Man I love these sweet little rifles.

That's a great set up. Wife wasn't too keen on a door gun till a couple of summers back. We live rural in a kinda steep sided, but not too narrow, valley that follows a full time creek. But, when 5 feral dogs came out of the woods and attacked her Charpei in the front yard, well she got 2 of them and a $1200 vet bill for her pup. The other 3 took me a couple of days to hunt down. (The neighbors were very helpful letting me cross fence lines and pointing out areas they had seen the dogs.) She now swears by a Rossi 92 in 357. Shoots the Federal 38 +P Hydro-Shoks which chrono at 1280 fps, and the groups cloverleaf at 80 yds. when shooting off a steady rest.

I understand about feral dogs, I live in a rural area and people dump dogs all the time. Several years ago I got cornered by three when I was squirrel hunting. My little 22 got me out of that scrape, but from that day on I carry a little more horsepower when I'm woods bumming. This Rossi will pair up nicely with my 4'' Ruger SP101. I'm working up some 180 grain loads for special occasions.

I have been known to shoot 180 grain Penn cast in my '92. Get 'em going fast enough and they're fine to 100 yards.

I have some smokin' 180's loaded up. I use the Lee 158 RF for most things, but if needed I'll have the 180 grain thump on hand.

I've got a 16 inch stainless in .357, great little gun! I enjoy shooting it, when I can pry the wife's hands off of it! If you go to "Ballistics by the inch" you can see that 16 inches is the sweet spot for straight walled pistol cartridges. 20 inch gives you a longer site radius, and a larger magazine, but no real boost in velocity......
