Cartridge Stop Pin

After a VERY hard time driving this pin out, it looks bent. First, is that why I had such a hard time driving it out? And second, this pin doesn't stick to a magnet. Sooooo, it's aluminum? Brass? Would've thought these pins would be steel. And lastly, where can I get replacements? Will a Winchester one work? If it's just aluminum or brass, can I just make one? Snip off a coat hanger or something? Open to suggestions.

Interesting. I've only done that once, seems I recall it being soft and bendable also. Didn't use a magnet on it though. No idea what it is. But you might be able to replace it with the right guage of piano wire. Don't ask me where to find that wire though.

Another thought would be if McMaster-Carr might have a tiny pin that would work. Or Steve's Gunz.....

Hobby shops are a source for piano wire, those that cater to RC flyers usually have a range of sizes.

Another option might be the shaft of a drill bit. Pretty common source for making a pin and probably what I'd use.

Some stainless steel isn't very magnetic and if it wasn't hardened then it would likely be pretty soft.

A roll pin might even work but I've never been much of a fan of them.

Drill bit shank is a good idea! That'd be tougher than the parts it's pinning together!
