Im 65, retired last 3 years, i enjoyed the first year of retirement, just getting up when i wanted to, going to bed when the urge hit me . Drinking coffee and watching multiple TV series , But after about a year i became very bored. I talked to my wife and we decided i need to set up a shop in our 2 car garage.
So thats what i did!
I purchased a mig welder, tig welder, plasma cutter, i already owned a stick welder and cutting torch.
I then added a small benchtop milling machine as well as a lathe. Next i converted the milling machine and lathe to cnc computer operated.
Now i machine parts out of metal, aluminum , plastic
Im building fire pits grills smokers
Im designing a few different products, when im not fabrication grills smokers

From one Grumpy old man to another - got a lathe, but what flavor of benchtop mill you got? I'm still trying to make up my mind.

Hi Gunny
Best bang for you buck, plus tons of online information and upgrades, get a Grizzly G0704 mill
Its very accurate i think they are about $1800 now just go to thier website grizzlytools.com
They have excellent customer service and really good prices.
I purchased mine in 2015 and then they were $1195 .
I have a bunch of experience and contact information on this mill.
If you have any qeustions or guidance, just hit me up

Welcome,

One of these days I'm going to see about getting a couple HK style rifles welded up.
Depending on circumstances, at the moment I'm wanting to get them done by someone who knows what they are doing. IF it reaches the point where I'm putting together my own weld shop I figure it's still a bit of an advanced project.

What happens when they're all dead? Everyone that's done something did it for the first time once.
