How to resize pictures

Can somebody tell me how to do this "simply" and take into account that I am NOT very good with computers.

I crop as much as I can on some pictures and that still does not get me small enough. And I have my camera set to JPEG basic. Is there a setting I can put it on that will lower the size more?

Whatever software you are using to crop the picture will probably have a resize option as well.

IF you have microsoft office picture editor
There is an edit button that brings up a sidebar where there is a RESIZE option with selections for predefined width x height OR custom width x height OR PERCENTAGE of original width x height.

I use the last option and save under a new name. IF the new one is not small enough I edit it and save again.
I try not to actually modify the original picture.

Another option in some microsoft office applications like powerpoint is to insert the picture and then right click on it and choose 'format picture' and pick the option for which dpi you want. You can save the slide as a picture or you can right click again on the picture and save it out directly as a picture. If you save the slide out you will get the full side space and may need to crop it again.

Quite often running a picture through something like this may also remove any metadata like embedded GPS coordinates.

I don't know what jpg basic really is. Every camera or phone has it's own terminology and tend not to be consistent with each other. I've seen some that have two settings that change the size of pictures My Cannon for example has settings for size based on width vs. height AND on fineness of resolution. Putting it on a large size and superfine resolution makes a much larger picture than on a small w x h setting with a course resolution.
