I have a 16" 357 mag and it shoots very high. I tried 38's and 357's, even removed the sight elevator. I have been researching sights for a couple weeks and it's mind boggling. I'd like to hear from real world experience please. What are you using? Did you have to change the front sight also?

sounds like a fairly common issue with a lot of R92's. I think you'll find that you need a taller front sight.

In order to find the correct sight height, there are several calculators, that can help.

A little better instructions:

I put a taller front sight on mine, and it's perfect now. The details are in the original thread about my sight replacement...

- What Height is your original sight(Top surface of barrel to top of sight)?
- Which type rear sight do you use? (Picture could be good)
- How high do you hit, and at what distance?
Here is a description of the sight picture.
sight-picture.jpg
When I first shot my Rossi, it shot Way High.
I forgot to use the small notch(as shown under "Buckhorn"), and had my front sight, between the wings, of the Semi Buckhorn..
The way I do it, is to have a virtual line, over the notch, and the front sight, and the upper sides of the Notch, should be, at the same height.
