I have been putting off this for a while and I think it is time. I have seen them on G.B. and G.A. auctions but only ones in .223 are decent price alot of people enjoy these guns in the soviet caliber 7.62by39 I would like to have a bolt gun that can eat some of my ak stockpiled ammo. I have looked at the cz 527 as well but would prefer the 799 remy. any one that has had one I am curious what you have issues pros and cons?

Bolt action x39s

I have a Remington 799 chambered for 7.62x39mm Russian. It has a thumb-hole stock and is used for bench-rest target shooting of reloaded boolits. Enjoy it very much!

For roaming around in the woods I use a CZ 527 in the x39 cartridge. It is a tad smaller rifle and clearly my favorite of the two.

Both these rifles are not in current production. You will have to search for your choice.

Good Luck!

You lucky dog you wow nice you have two of the nicest versions of the small mauser action rifles I love. Nice rifles. I think I am just gonna settle for a rossi wizard singla action in 7.62x39 these are getting to pricey.

The zaztava m 85 is on my list because of the price and the action it solid and dependable just finding one. in stock someday I doubt these will be banned so I am in no hurry for it. thanks for the link I have had my eyes on them for a while. Tru oil on the plain wood on those M85 rifles really make them sexy as well.

You're welcome for the link. I only knew of it since I was looking for a southpaw bolt action and thinking about one in 6.5x55. If Savage made a left-handed Hog Hunter, I'd get one, but alas, I'm sticking with my right handed bolts for now.
