Re: New Henry rifles
Back when I was waiting on the Rio Grande 45-70 Govt to come out I was eyeballing the Henry but I dropped the consideration because of the weight of the durn thing. Of course, none were around so I could only go by the specs.
I do remain more than happy with the RG4570 as it is the lightweight carbine I was looking for. Even sold my 1895G & 1895MR Marlins and the RG shot and handled so well.

Re: New Henry rifles
Henry builds some really nice lever guns. The only ones I have owned were rim fires and they were good guns. The center fire guns have a great reputation, and I've only heard 2 criticisms of them. They are heavier than the average lever gun and the way the magazine is loaded. All are loaded like a .22 with a tubular magazine. I struggled with the loading gate on my 92, but I still think that is the way to go. It allows you to easily reload a round or so on the fly. Their quality and customer service is second to none. Rossi could take some lessons from Henry.
At my age, there IS nothing better than shooting.

Re: New Henry rifles
I love Henry's quality and the look of their guns.
I own a .22LR w/octagonal and it is fun.
I will eventually own a .22WMR octagonal I think.
I handled one of their .357s last weekend. It was a solid well built gun.
I find myself held back by the fact that it is feed from the front of the mag tube.
The price is a couple hundred more than the Rossi and probably a pound to a pound and a half heavier as well but MUCH nicer wood.

Re: New Henry rifles
I have the steel in 30-30. EXTREMELY accurate with Leverevolution factory loads. Took a deer with it last November. Also have a Winchester Trails End takedown in 30-30. Did some testing with it and loading the Leverevolution bullets a little under factory loading found it equally as accurate.

Re: New Henry rifles
Like the shorter magazine. Would like one on the Big Boy Steel.
Weight is listed at 8.0 lbs for the 22" octagon barrel. 7.0 for the round barrel 20".

Re: New Henry rifles
I'm glad this wasn't model was not available when I started looking at the Rossi's or I might have gone this with the Henry as I like the looks of this little carbine. That said, I remain satisfied with my R92s.
