Ranch Dog 7.62x39 mold?
Hey Ranch Dog, did you ever finish a boolit design for the 7.62x39? I find myself needing a new mold for my Zastava mini mauser and would love a Ranch Dog design for it, preferably from NOE!

I should have my molds in a week are two. If the design works out, I will turn it over to NOE.

You will need to bug NOE about it as I'm not going to run anymore group buys. Last four wore me out.

Ugh. I already want to order his 8mm and .303 Brit bullet molds. There goes two hundred bucks...

Just wondering if the mold was received and tried out yet? Would love to see some pics of the boolits and hopefully some successful trials! Believe me, if it works out for you I will be bugging Swede Nelson on his NOE forum!Ranch Dog wrote:I should have my molds in a week are two. If the design works out, I will turn it over to NOE.

It did work out and did it very quickly so I haven't shot it much as the temperature outside came up. I have a bunch waiting to lube but it is just too hot to be in my garage where I do that work. Here are the bullets…sawzall wrote:Just wondering if the mold was received and tried out yet? Would love to see some pics of the boolits and hopefully some successful trials! This design has a lot of features that are being molded so a lot of attention has to paid to alloy. Wheel weights without tin, will not provide enough definition to these features. The "features" are the fine details of the greater diameters of the front band and ogive extending to the meplat. Same with the Micro-Bands®. There is a minimum lube volume and straight wheel weights will not provide the definition to keep the the edges and angles of the bands sharp and deep.
This is the first target I shot, just went straight to a 45.0K PSI load, shooting my Savage 10FCM with the receiver sights at 50 yards. It was tight in the horizontal plain but not so in the vertical.
I was just starting to shoot the rifle with the ghost ring sights so I wasn't sure if the vertical stringing of the shots was me, bullets, or load. So, I backed the charge down to 42.0K PSI, put the scope back on and shot the target at 100-yards.
It did great except for the exaggerated fliers. I looked at the bullets I had just prepped and the gas checks were not seated straight on many. I went back through the bullet inventory and redid most of the gas checks and it has been shooting great since. I have not shot it in my Mini-30 yet for the same reasons I haven't been doing much shooting at all, the heat. Here is a picture, for the perspective, of the TLC313-150-RF loaded cartridge against the Tula 154-grain PSP cartridge.

I don't think he has the drawing but would gladly supply it. I think he has to have a 10 to 15 orders to make it worth the investment in the tooling.Maximumbob54 wrote:Any idea if NOE will be doing this one for sure or not?
