tang sights

Post by twobitokie »

Has anyone tried one of the taurus tang sights on a center fire levergun, like the rossi rio grande in 45-70? I wonder if it could take a beating?

HI twobit;
Sort of a 'no,but' answer.
I purchased several a few years back when they first came out. So far I've got 'm mounted on .357Mag carbs. A .45Colt rifle and I'm prepping a .480Rug Carb.
for one. I've experienced no problems with adjustment range. I anticipate no strength issues as they are as rugged as the Marbles sight.
I made one mistake when attempting to fix something which wasn't broken. "Slap my knuckles, HARD!!" I imagined that the retaining spring which locks the stand in its upright position wasn't quite snappy enough. So I tried deepening the resting notch a tad. I got it to work fine but when comparing it to my other installations determined that it wasn't needed.
You'll need to get different screws as the ones that come w/it are for the .22RF
