Mine broke.

Post by kliff »

My 45LC has never been easy to rack a round into, with any consistancy, and yesterday I found out why, when 1/2 of the right side cartridge ramp, fell out of the rifle. Broken in half at the screw threads that secure it to the frame.

I called Davidsons just a little while ago, they said this had been seen before, and gave me instructions to send it back, via my local dealer. They will replace(out of stock), or repair( not sure I want it back), or do a credit....probably the route I'll take.

So far, Davidsons has been a pleasure to deal with, I'll let y'all know the final outcome. But I have a good feeling, going forward positively, as stuff like this does happen, now we just need to resolve the issue. ;)

I can't stand folks that have a mechanical problem with, whatever, and think the whole company is bad, it just doesn't work that way. I wouldn't particularly want THAT rifle back, but if it's repaired, and operates as designed, what more could I ask for, it will be exactly what I purchased, life goes on.

And on a good note, heard back from my local dealer, who has been in contact with Davidsons, It will be shipped out Tomorrrow, and they will give us a time-line, etc, as soon as they receive it....no worries.

I've caught a few defects (rust, cracked wood, feed/cycle problems, missing or broken parts) at the point of purchase (store) because I check the guns out meticulously before the plastic or cash hit the counter but some some things like the problem with your .45 LC aren't so obvious.
Most things in life are a trade-off.
I had to do a little post purchase cleaning, deGUNKING, tinkering, filing & polishing to get my Rossis to where they are now but the trade off is a $400-$500 purchase price compared to 2-3 times that much for a Winchester (Miroku), Pedersoli, Chiappa & even more for a Turnbull.
That is all behind me now and I've since shot the heck out of my 4 Rossis & haven't had any problems whatsoever .......even the Puma 92 in .454 Casull after over 1000 heavy duty rounds is still as solid as the Rock of Gibraltar.........knock on wood.
I've got Brownings, Marlins, Winchesters & Ruger leverguns in my arsenal & none are as accurate as those Rossis.
Davidsons will make sure you get treated right & your problems are resolved satisfactorily.
Good luck with your gun & keep us informed as to how it goes.

FINALLY got sent to the shop, only because Davidsons drug their feet getting a return shipping label to my dealer.... A week later, and I still know nuttin'! NOW I'm getting disgusted. :(
