First of all thanks for letting me join such an informative and great group of Rossi fans. My first Rossi was a R462 revolver that I use for CC. I've had such good use of it and great accuracy I had to look at the R92 when I finally was able to buy the lever gun I always wanted! So I did so...I ordered an R92 357 blued with the 24inch octagon barrel! I can't wait to get it! I look to the experience of you guys in tweaking this beaut to make it slick and accurate!

Welcome 357, glad you joined the forum. There should be some reading for you in the R92 but I take a wait and see what it needs attitude as most of R92s have needed just to be cleaned.

OK, I'm good with cleaning the action but what's the safest way to get this cosmoline off the outside of the barrel and breech without damaging anything?

The fastest is to remove the wood and give it a nonchlorinated break cleaner bath. The stocks mainly the forearm can be problematic in reinstalling though so this could end with the "thought this was not worth it". Otherwise I would use a bore solvent and wipe and wipe until you get it. You will want to open the mag tube and remove follower and spring as well and blast the cleaner down barrel and mag tube then go to action and blast it until it starts coming out clean then reoil her reinstall your wood and shoot her. Most find this is all they need to do. This removes that cosmo like water running in the creek.
