Rebored rifles, and some factory barrels, often have the rate of twist identified on the bottom of the barrel near the receiver. It would be a stamp simply stating "1-20" or "20".

Come to think of it, I have seen that. Must have been on the 338-06 rebore I had.
I don't think I've ever had that area of this rifle uncovered by the wood to see.
The barrel is marked "BALLARD" which I've heard some say was a rebore place operating under the old Ballard name in the 80s or 90s but I never heard of them.
It's an eight groove, which is a little different but not really odd.
