I have a new Rossi 92 in 45 Colt. I really like it and it seems to be a great improvement over the older Rossis.
I want to increase the length of pull. I was looking at a Boyd's stock. It looks like a flat shotgun style. For you guys that have them do they increase the LOP?
I can't get a straight answer from Boyds. After 2 emails I am still confused. Their emails said the LOP doesn't change even if I add a 1" recoil pad. At least that is the way I read the emails.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: question on Boyd's stock
I agree with you on the Boyds website. It's confusing. I'm never quite sure if I'm ordering right or not. But the two that I have gotten from them were as I ordered them and were what I thought that I was ordering.
On the laminated stock you have no choice of the LOP . They come one length and with a hard buttplate. But on my walnut one, I had the option of a few rubber recoil pads, and I thought that the LOP was an option also. I got the standard so I'm not positive on that.
Measuring the stocks that I have, the Rossi JuJu wood one measures, from trigger to the shortest section of the curved buttplate, 12 -15/16".
My laminated one with hard butplate measures 13-1/8"
My walnut one with the recoil pad measures 13-5/16"

Re: question on Boyd's stock
While ordering one yesterday, I found out for sure that NO you have no choice on the LOP.

Re: question on Boyd's stock
So if I wanted to extend my LOP I was thinking that I would order a stock with the regular hard plastic plate. That should be a 12.75" length. Then add my own 1" recoil pad. That should work right?

Re: question on Boyd's stock
Yes I think that would work.
Measuring my two , one with pad and other has the hard plate, the hard one is 7/16" longer. BUT I have not been able to get that plate off. The finish is sprayed on and goes over the wood and plate. I'm sure the plate will come off but I don't want to screw up the finish, so I didn't try that hard.
If doing as you suggest, I would get the stock unfinished. Then the plate should come off easier.
The hard plate one measures 12-15/16" from trigger to end of the wood measuring straight back from trigger.
My hard plate one is a laminated model. But I wouldn't think that would matter on the length.

Re: question on Boyd's stock
I installed a Boyd's stock on my 92 3 years ago. I bought it on GunBroker. It did not increase the LOP and it required some serious filing and work with a chisel to fit it to my rifle. I am a woodworker and it was not an easy process. It is however a very nice looking stock.

Looks like they are offering a few more options now than they were when I looked years ago.CTparker1953 wrote:I installed a Boyd's stock on my 92 3 years ago. I bought it on GunBroker. Back then they pretty much offered the 44/45 sized stocks and nothing for the .357. Now they seem to have caught on that one size does not fit all the rifles.
