Re: Triple Black YouTube
While it might not be my style, different strokes for different folks.
That said, the older I get the more trouble I have seeing iron sights, even peep sights in anything but good light become hard to use. Scopes and red dots on levers become more agreeable with every passing year. As fond as I am of that Aimpoint on an AR, it is completely too big on a lever gun. Something smaller, like a RDS though has some merit, and I do like the threaded barrel option. That factory stock is painted if I recall correctly, so could be easily stripped back to the wood finish. If one crosses my path I would not dismiss it.

Clown car?GasGuzzler wrote:There is no attribute of a triple black that is appealing to me and changing the bedliner stock to a clown car stock doesn't help or hurt.Archer wrote:Yeah, we all know you prefer the flat black bed liner spray coat to the stabilized plywood laminate with color choices.GasGuzzler wrote:No thanks.
OK, not sure where that one came from. Plywood I'll give you but I don't see the connection to Shriner's Go Carts or Mini Coopers and red light fire drills of mimes with floppy shoes.
As has been mentioned, we've all got different tastes.
Mine have surely changed over the years.

Clown cars are painted several colors that doesn't go together just like laminate stocks.

Good video...
The black stuff just isn't my thing unless it's an AR....

I’m generally not interested in the tactical looking lever guns, but I really wish Rossi sold the sight that they have on their black models separately. I called customer service to see if I could get my hands on one for my regular R92, but apparently that’s not possible. Too bad, it looks like the perfect sight & RDS mount for one.

This is what I did, but I found the forend wood didn't match the stock. It took a bit of trial and error to bleach the color out of them and then stain them to match.ethang wrote:That factory stock is painted if I recall correctly, so could be easily stripped back to the wood finish.

And im in the process of redoing a 1895G stock with fiebing's dark brown leather dye and boiled linseed oil.
And I removed the checkering to, looking for an ancient wood finish of yesteryear.
I feel old now, and ancient, spit.

Fiebings is good stuff. Ive used "buckskin" on many a mahogany guitar body, with nitro over it.
