Anyone else seen this on a new R92 ? Poor repair made at the factory before bluing was applied. I do believe the gun is structurally sound, but I have yet to fire it. Considering returning it under warranty, but I question if the Rossi repair guys have the skills needed to properly repair it. Any ideas on someone who could properly repair it ?New R92 cracked

Re: New R92 cracked
What do you consider a proper repair?
The proper repair in my mind is:
to scrap the receiver and replace it with one that is not cracked
OR
to weld the chip in place and finish it smooth (probably not exactly easy)
OR
to knock the chip out and weld up the area grinding it back to net
Either of the last two generally requires refinishing and welds don't always blue uniformly with the base metal.

Should have never left the factory. Rossi needs to replace it.

Re: New R92 cracked
I fully agree with all of the above. I also doubt that Rossi repair staff has the needed skills to execute any of the above. Sad thing is,it is one the most nicely finished Rossi's I've seen, other than the crack. Crack was neatly hidden by packing grease at time of purchase, and could be neither felt nor seen. I also doubt they will replace it,nor do I believe they will issue a refund of purchase price.Archer wrote:What do you consider a proper repair?

My experience and a metallurgic fact - the crack extends beyond what can be seen by the naked eye. If unfired - RETURN for Refund or Replacement. JMHO.

Send that little guy back. How did that make it past initial QC inspection.

Re: New R92 cracked
I'm not a fan of returning firearms to the manufacturer, but in this case - yes, absolutely! That's not a scratch, sharp edge, or crooked sight, that's a defective receiver! I'd demand a new rifle, not a repair.
