Fiebing's Leather Dye
I will forgo an epic story here and mostly post pics. Ask any question and I will try to answer it. Another user mentioned Fiebing's Leather Dye for wood that won't take stain evenly. I bought a late '90's Mossberg 500 in .410 and wanted to refinish it to a more classic look and to get rid of some hunting dings. In the second to the last of pic you can see how unevenly the wood took the Minwax stain. The last pic is after two treatments with the Fiebing's Leather Dye and one very thin coat of Tru-Oil. I will continue to add Tru-Oil until it looks like I want then I'll let it cure for several days before a final buff to knock the sheen off.
