45 Colt Heavy cast bullets H110 vs LilGun
With my newly acquired Magneto Speed Chronograph I got a chance to make a quick comparison of my two hunting loads for the 45 Colt. Except for the powder both loads are the same, Starline cases, Winchester LP primer for standard or magnum loads and the Lee 452300 gas checked bullet at 310 grains checked and lubed.
H110 22.6 grains, average MV 1480, hi 1509, low 1449, ES 60, SD 22
LilGun 19.5 grains, average MV 1523, hi 1530, lo 1519, ES 11 SD 4
Granted it's only 2 five shot strings and the numbers need more verification, but if they hold I'll be switching to LilGun. Based on the figures it should shoot harder than the H110 but subjectively it is an easier shooting load.
I also finished up the ladders with the two MO Bullet Keith styles and 3 powders. That's another story, except to say it may be possible to have too much informations

Looks great. I'd like to see if the ES and SD improvements show up on a target.

With being limited to 25 yards not sure how much difference I'll see but I intend to try from a rest first chance I get.GasGuzzler wrote:Looks great. I'd like to see if the ES and SD improvements show up on a target.

Seems consistent with what RD has been saying awhile, LilGun gets you more velocity at less pressure
Unless i missed it what are you shooting these out of?

Re: 45 Colt Heavy cast bullets H110 vs LilGun
I doubt I myself would see much difference on paper since the only .45C I have is a wheel gun. The extra velocity per pressure might not help me...but I do have Lil Gun (and nearly "all" the other pistols powders) as well as a .357 R92/Blackhawk combo. I like H110 and W296 but 2400 is my game. I also realize 2400 will not outperform LG in a .45C rifle. I don't load my Uberti 6-gun .45 hot but I do my .357s so the R92 is where I'm testing Lil Gun.

Gas, I'll be interested to hear about the 357 and LilGun particularly with heavier bullets.

I loaded them like a year and a half ago. Haven't tried them yet. I'm pretty sure they're either 168s or 183s over a load of LG.

Shoots good, faster for the same pressure. I've shot 175 & 190-grain bullets, I'm staying with the 190.Ohio3Wheels wrote:Gas, I'll be interested to hear about the 357 and LilGun particularly with heavier bullets.
