As much as it's a PITA to dismantle new guns and clean, deburr and polish innards that SHOULD have been so to begin with, I have to admit that I do really enjoy the tinkering! I also have a really nice set of Boride Engineered Abrasives gunsmithing stones that really make it a lot easier. Got them as freebies once when the company was giving out those kits as samples, I sure wouldn't hesitate to buy a set of them, and I highly recommend them! I'm indebted to to guy on the M1911.org forum that alerted the members to the giveaway, whoever that guy was.

There is a lot to be said about learning a firearm inside and out from the start.
