Re: model 92 in .410 bore
are you sure it is not a rio grande? if there is a partion hanging down under the reciever that the lever attaches to then it is a RG a 92 is flat at the bottom of the reciever? Please post pics but I suspect this is what you have. I cannot see someone spending the money to convert a 92 to .410 but who knows. maybe rossi made one at some point as well.

I suspect that is a Rio Grande. The R92 cannot handle cartridge overall lengths but a bit over 1.775".

An 1886 in 410 gauge is within the realm of possibility but not a conventionally dimensioned 92.
Don't know anybody that makes an 1886 in 410 and I'm NOT going to shoot 410 shells in my 1886.
Might try to chamber a 410 gauge shell in my 1886 next time I'm at the range to see if it will cycle but i won't fire it.
Might be worthwhile loading shot into 45-70 brass if it can be configured with a plastic sabot type of arrangement to prevent barrel fouling.........good for knocking off a rabbit or grouse for the camp stew pot while deer or moose hunting.

I like that thought, not much to eat of a small rabbit if hit by a large bullet but a homemade shotshell I think could work to bad they dont have brass or copper shot that was soft n less liklt to harm or foul the rifleing.pricedo wrote:An 1886 in 410 gauge is within the realm of possibility but not a conventionally dimensioned 92.

Re: model 92 in .410 bore
After reading the response I believe it is a RIO GRANDE as it is built on more of a marlin frame then a winchester type like the 92s . OH Well I gave 250 for it hope it was/is worth it. now to remove this silly scope and mount. And hunt some tree rats.

All that being said I have up to as late as last fall with taken Ruffed Grouse on the walk with Grampas old Winchester model 94/30-30 (pre-64 of course). That gun was the first centerfire I ever fired and I hunted moose & deer with it for many years. That old Winny is as much a part of me as my right arm is.akuser47 wrote:I like that thought, not much to eat of a small rabbit if hit by a large bullet but a homemade shotshell I think could work to bad they dont have brass or copper shot that was soft n less liklt to harm or foul the rifleing.pricedo wrote:An 1886 in 410 gauge is within the realm of possibility but not a conventionally dimensioned 92.

I just "think" the bullet onto the target and 50 year old "muscle memory" makes it happen.
You can take small game with a powerful centerfire rifle if you hit the game just right which normally means a head shot.
If you think you're a good rifle shot try hitting the head of a walking grouse at 20 yards.
I take my rifles out for small game lots.........later in the fall when a deer, elk or moose presents itself even a 200 yard shot is child's play.
