R243MBS Problem
Re: R243MBS Problem
Ranch Dog: Thank you for the link to model look up. That tells me the gun was manufactured in 2011. Much earlier than I thought. It does not give the ROT.

Sorry about that as I missed the screenshot capture on the first image.tchepone wrote:First off, this is the MBS, not the HBS model.

Ranch Dog: No worries Mate.
The gun is definitely not a 1 in 10 twist, as shown on the chart. It is at least a 1 in 12.
Could freebore be the cause of vertical stringing?
BTW, Thanks for your links.

Re: R243MBS Problem
The freebore would tend to scatter the POI not string it. If you are certain about the ROT, I would send it back for the spec barrel.tchepone wrote:Ranch Dog: No worries Mate.

Re: R243MBS Problem
It would be nice if someone else had a similar rifle that could measure what they have as well. You think any of the gunshops in your area have one on a rack?

Re: R243MBS Problem
Ranch Dog: I don't know of anyone around here who has one. I'll have to check around the local gun shops. This one was purchased 200 miles from where I live.
BTW, do you know how one posts a photo on this board?

Re: R243MBS Problem
Tcepone, I bought a 243/20 ga combo setup and checked the rifle twist. As near as I can measure, mine is 1 in 10". I haven't shot it yet but should be ok with 100 grain.

Re: R243MBS Problem
Could be the forend. Is it possible to fire the rifle safely without the forend? Could be putting some pressure on the barrel. Just guessing.
