New from Maine

Post by Edster »

Did a little bit of lurking/research prior to my first Rossi purchase. Got a R92 45 Colt 20" octagon barrel last week.

Right out of the box dealt with the packing crude, and started working the action. Started that on Monday. By Friday the action had smoothed out to acceptable levels. Put 100 rounds thru it on Sunday. What a sweet shooting rifle. Going to give it some time before I do any of the standard modifications to it, at this point in time I think it is going to smooth out real nice. Fit and finish is acceptable. I have noticed one spot on the stock at the tang on the right side that could come down a touch but that is it.

I have been a long time lever fan. Grew up shooting my dads Marlin 336. I do have a 336 myself now and thought the Rossi would make a nice addition. Been thinking I might just have to start a corral of levers. Please don't tell my wife
I have a Taurus RB 454 w/6 1/2" barrel which is a blast to shoot not sure if I want to add the Rossi in 454 or not.

Looks like a case hardened receiver...........cool !
I've only seen 1 or 2 Rossi 92s with the CH receivers.

I am not a real big blued fan. When I first saw a picture of the CH receiver it intrigued me. When I saw it I had to have it. The coloring on the butt plate is amazing. I'll see if I can get a real good picture of it. Been using the iPhone and it doesn't do it justice.
