Gunslinger spring kit

Post by donhuff »

All that time I wasted by trimming the stock springs!!! I wish yall would kick my aZZ.

I got a couple of those kits and install them in my 357 and 45C yesterday. Man what a difference. Both guns were already slick cause I had cut, trimmed, and polished the snot out of them, but those new springs really made that much of a difference. I ordered them cause every now and then I would get a misfire in the 357. Sometimes I could recock and it would go. (Yathink I got the hammer spring too short? ) Then sometimes it would not go at all, even with 4 strikes. Yes Pricedo, I had that saftey thingy in the F (fixin to shoot) position.

See, last year one of my brother in laws passed away and my sister in law gave me all of his reloading stuff. He had a lot of primers and a lot of primed brass. Some of it 30-40 years old. Most of it works just fine, but now I'm getting these misfires. And wouldn't ya know that I don't find this out until AFTER I loaded up about 1200... 357s :o Luckly I dont hunt so I can live with it till they are used up. I'll call it flinch training. Thankfully he did not have many LG pistol primers and I have already blown through them and had to buy new ones. Also good is 5000 WW lg rifle primers, some really old Rem #9-1/2s ( I aint never seen a box like these have, and they are brass, not nickle plated), but 700 CCIs have to go as I get a miss on one every 25-30.

I also got some Herters 101 powder, and reloader #21. Not much data for these. I use em for fireforming cases as no need to develop a load for something you only have a pound of and cant get anymore.

Well I got off of the spring conversation didn't I.

I'll bet it did..............when he lit it!

I had a can that turned into a lump of powder. I used a screwdriver to break it up and poured it out. I put a match to it and it did not burn :? Then I tried a propane torch.......still nothing! So I pouded some gasoline on it a lit that BY GOLLY. The gas burned off and left a lump of hot powder????? I gave up and buried it!

I punched a hole in the top of the mound down deep with a stick and filled the hole with powder. Lit it off and smoke was pouring out all over the mound. Sure killed off the mound, but it would be a bit expensive if you were buying the powder and had many mounds.
