Rossi 92 44 Mag with Magazine Tube Loading Port

Post by HarryAlonzo »

There is a Rossi 92 at auction that is described as 44 Mag, but it has an additional loading port in the mag tube. There is clearly a knurled knob on the end of the mag tube. I thought this feature was only found on 454 Casul or 480 Ruger. The photos aren’t detailed enough to show barrel markings. I inquired, and they said the only barrel marking was “44 Magnum.” ???

Hmm, that is interesting.
Wonder if it could be an aftermarket/gunsmithing thing maybe.
Ive been looking at 45 colt rifles, since I dont have any rifles in 45 colt.
Been looking at rossi 45 colt, 454 would be nice, if available at a decent price.
Still eyeballing the uberti 1873 45 colt with 30" barrel.

That would be a lot of expensive work for a Rossi. The tubes that also load are threaded into the receiver on the .480 and .454.

That’s what I thought. I was mistaken about the make. It’s a Puma, not a Rossi. Bolt safety, no medallion. Maybe Puma made a 44 with a mag tube port?

It wouldn't take much for somebody with talent to fit Henry parts or make their own. Rossi should have been doing this for years (IMO of course) to all of their 92s...

Nope but it would still cost more than reasonable for a Rossi.

Maybe someone broke a Mag tube, and had an easier time, to get a Mag Tube, from a Henry Big Boy?
