Using tung oil

Post by theodessakid »

Have been applying Tung oil to the wood on my Hartford. Starting to bring up the luster and grain.

Many years ago I applied tung oil to a Kentucky long rifle. Made a beautiful finish.

I have used a very old can of boiled linseed oil on my Rossi, and recently raw tung oil on my CMP Garand. I can't really say which one is better. They both look great. Speaking of which, it's time to put another coat on both of them.

Linseed oil never really fully hardens, tung oil does. For premium oils for your gunstock needs you should look at Heritage Natural Finishes.
