Magazine follower...

Post by ManxTom »

Does anyone know who is currently selling aluminium followers for a .357 / .38 Rossi R92. I have the original one in my rifle and it's starting to get quite discoloured. I have had stuff from Beartooth Mercantile who, pleasingly, have no issues with shipping stuff to GB. However they are not making a follower for .357... Yet.

Any thoughts chaps??

Got my stainless ones from the smith shop but they closed up.
I think Beartooth might be selling them now:

Yeah it says Marlin, you could ask if it fits the Rossi...

Granted it ain't aluminum but should be functional and if not rust proof then rust resistant.

Other options?

Ranger Point Precision and Pioneer Gun Works seem to only have the 44-45 size.

DIY,
I think there's a tutorial on this site where someone made their own and here's a link to a similar idea:

I'm not certain that his starting point didn't cost him more than he'd have been able to buy the finished product for but it is an idea.

Thanks for that Archer. I have to say I surprised that the .357 / .38 follower isn't more popular given that there seems to be a lot of R92's around in that calibre. Of course over here in GB we tend not to see too many 'exotic' calibres, and what there is, like 45-70, is extremely expensive to buy.
I emailed Beartooth Merch, so I'll await their reply and take it from there.
Thanks for your input.

Hello ManxTom,
I might have one somewhere, so will take a look in the morning and let you know.
Bought it from The Smith shop last year, used it for a bit then sold the rifle but swapped it out before I let the rifle go.

.45-70 is too pricey to buy off the shelf here too.

My .357 was factory equipped with a metal follower but I installed a brass one off eBay to replace the plastic one in the .454 I owned for six weeks or so.

That's an extremely generous offer Jon, I appreciate it greatly. I did email Beartooth Mercantile and I got a reply today saying that, at this time, they are not making .357/.38 followers. So that's that door firmly closed..!!

I'll PM you with my details.

Regards,
Tom.
