R92 WITH TAURUS SAFETY SYSTEM..
Just wondering if anyone has a R92 with the Taurus Safety System? The reason I ask is because I have it on my newly acquired rifle, but I have no 'key' for it.
If anyone does have this system fitted, and has a 'key' could they possibly post a photo so I can see what it looks like. I guess, being that small, it can't be too sophisticated a system..
Thanks in advance.

Re: R92 WITH TAURUS SAFETY SYSTEM..
It is a simple security hex key.
i.e. a hex key with a drilled out center.
Measures .098" by caliper.
The same key fit two of my guns. I didn't drag out the third.
I should have at least two sets of keys but I only found one. First time ever I dug them out of the baggie they were stapled to a pamphlet that explained the system was licensed from Taurus. The pamphlet explains you should not rely solely on this system and should keep firearms secure and away from everyone.

Just seen a YouTube video with a guy using a paperclip to lock and unlock the 'system'. I was just curious really because I'd never use it.
Thanks for the info.

I don't know if my R92 is unique, but I've found the additional "safety" on my rifle's hammer does absolutely nothing. About a half-turn one way or the other moves it to its extremes but the gun functions the same when it's in either position. Perhaps it's an idea that wasn't fully developed before the hammers went into production.

Hey Tom, if you decide that you need one, let me know. I'm sure I've got a couple some where.

Very generous of you to offer, might be a good idea to have one, if only to be able to pass it on when the Great Gunsmith takes it from my cold, dead hand..golfish wrote:Hey Tom, if you decide that you need one, let me know. I'm sure I've got a couple some where.
I'll PM you with my address.
Cheers.

Re: R92 WITH TAURUS SAFETY SYSTEM..
I would just about bet a 2.5mm security Hex/Allen bit would work just fine. (If not a 3/32" should fit.)
I don't think any of my gunsmith sets has the security hex bits in them but I know I've got a large Craftsman set that does and a couple ChinaMart sets that if they aren't drilled too far off center should work.
