I'd love a 16" stainless .357, I haven't been able to find one. I was looking for one and all I could get was the 20" blue, a couple of months later I found the 16" blue. I'll probably sell the 20 and keep looking for a stainless 16.

I wanted a 20" SS for the .357 when I was looking to buy several years ago.
It wasn't quite as bad as it is now but when they came in they were sold out by the time the notification email went out. After several months of just missing them I bought a blued 20" instead.

I know the 16" is a little handier, especially if you are getting it in or out of the truck quickly.
That said, I think the shortest centerfire levers I've got is 18" on the BLR take down Hog Stalker in .308 and 18.5" on the Marlin 1895 SBL .45-70. I'd probably have gone with at least a 20" on the Browning if I hadn't essentially been offered the brother-in-law deal on the 18" shorty that was in stock.

the 16" just feels to be better balanced. I have a 20" stainless .45 colt and it feels heavy and out of balance. I need to weigh them and see if it is my imagination that the 20" stainless feels much heavier than the 16" blue .357

Okay, it's my imagination. They both appear to weigh 5.7 lbs

There's probably less than 4 ounces difference IF everything else is exactly the same.
Assuming the same barrel diameter with a different hole size it in you might gain half that back between the smaller hole and the larger one. The mag tube diameters are different but as it's a thin walled tube there's not a lot of difference there.

Wood density can vary quite a bit.

I do notice a slight difference between a 24" Winchester 94 round barrel and a 20" Rossi 92 round barrel both in the same 44 caliber. The slight bit of extra weight at the end of the 20" lever feels slightly slower to swing. It isn't really a thing but it does feel like one.

With the 24" Rossi Octagonal compared to the 20" Rossi round barrel, again both in .44 Mag, there's about a 1.8 lb difference IF I remember correctly. THAT does make a bit of a different feel, but even there it isn't notably slower it just feels like it. The extra weight and sight radius DOES help steady the gun down a bit for picking a slightly finer bead at a little longer range.

agreed. I think what I notice is the extra barrel length in front of my left hand whereas the balance point of the 16" feels like it is pretty much centered between my left hand and my shoulder.
