Rossi 92 Terminal Performance Jug Test
I like to hand load both jacketed and cast lead bullets in my lever guns, and one easy way to test theIr expansion and penetration is to shoot them into water jugs.
I’ve tested a variety of my hand loads in my Rossi 92 chambered in 45 Colt, as well as other firearms. Here are four of my R92 tests:
300gr Lee

Not bad.
Barrel length?
Out of curiosity, details on the sidearm?

My Rossi 92 is a 16” trapper style carbine.Archer wrote:Not bad.

If I made the video after hog hunting, it was probably my Kimber ultracarry stainless. I’ve recently switched over to a Glock 21.

I load that Lee 300gr over either H110 or Lil'Gun. I've found Lil'Gun a little more consistent so far and at least subjectively shoots a little cooler.

I need to try Lil’Gun! I like the 300gr Lee a lot, but It seems to destabilize after 50-70 yds, and starts to keyhole.Ohio3Wheels wrote:I load that Lee 300gr over either H110 or Lil'Gun. I've found Lil'Gun a little more consistent so far and at least subjectively shoots a little cooler.

I shoot a 290-grain flat-nosed, gas-checked bullet of my design from my 45 Colt with Lil'Gun. I've found the harder I push it, the better. Chronograph says 1760 FPS.

Re: Rossi 92 Terminal Performance Jug Test
The gun was definitely a 1911 variant and is visible in both the first and fourth videos in what looks like a variation on a minimalist Yaqui slide with a thumb break?
I've got a pair of the Ultra Carry guns and I like them well enough I bought the second one.
I had a Glock 30 and it made one range trip before I passed it on to someone who wanted it more than I did. I've shot the 21s but never really warmed up to them that much. I had a friend who could jam his 21 for some reason but the same gun with the same ammo always worked for me. In a wide body 45 I like the Para Ord or the CZ-97.

I ought to have bought a couple of your molds, they look awesome! Is there a way to get your designs these days?Ranch Dog wrote:I shoot a 290-grain flat-nosed, gas-checked bullet of my design from my 45 Colt with Lil'Gun. I've found the harder I push it, the better. Chronograph says 1760 FPS.

I really like the accuracy and history of the 1911 and the 45 ACP cartridge. I just seem to shoot my glocks better, and they are so easy to clean.Archer wrote:The gun was definitely a 1911 variant and is visible in both the first and fourth videos in what looks like a variation on a minimalist Yaqui slide with a thumb break?

I’ve always wanted to try a CZ design, like an EAA in 10mm, but I’d probably just end up with another Glock!
