NOTE: the difference between the rifle and the revolver/pistol data may be due to the 12 groove rifle info which could be Marlin microgroove standard although it is not noted.

EVERYTHING has a tolerance and getting an exact number that you expect is somewhat unlikely.

ALSO note that if you simply slugged the barrel you are going to get a slug that is probably the summary of the smallest point in the entire barrel. That is to say that if you have a constriction in the barrel due to dovetail sight cuts, magazine attachment points or barrel band or forearm attachment areas. Certain manufacturers are generally know to have more of these kinds of issues than others and it may vary from time to time as cutters or other tools wear.

12 lands could also be the Winchester model 94 rifles.

I shoot 430 in my 92's including the 44-40, if there's a tight spot you'll find it quick enough.

Did you lube the slug and the barrel? Do it several times?

As I understand it, .44mag rifle barrels should be around .431- my Marlin and Winchester both slug at .4315. They certainly don't care for .429 bullets.

My Browning B-92 .44 Mag (12 groove) is .4315". My Chiappa 1892 .44/40 (6 groove) is .4305". I shoot only cast bullets in both. The Browning hates everything except 240 gr TCBB .432". The Chiappa loves 200 gr RNFP .430". It took me quite a while to find a bullet to make the Browning happy. (The solution came from Penn Bullets.) I hit the sweet spot on the first try with the 200 gr RNFP in the Chiappa.

Would Tiger’s groove dia of .427 be ok for .429 jacketed bullets?

Apparently there's an argument running about the web that the bore was opened up on the rifle specs to allow for the extra length of the barrel and the lack of pressure relief you'd get in a revolver from the cylinder gap.

I don't think I buy that. The dims on the .444 are a thou tighter than the .44 Mag running a pressure about a third higher.
