Safety detent ball source

Post by Blind Hawg »

Lost the detent ball while installing Steve’s peepsite. Where’s the best place to get one? I plan on asking Rossi to replace front sight since the brass bead fell off.

Anybody know what size the ball is?
It is a ball not a pin as I recall...

If it’s truly a 3/32 ball, y’all might try your local bike shop. Any bike shop worth its salt will have glass jars of bearing balls.

Good idea but that's REALLY small for bike usage. I have some Redfield target sight detent balls I can measure.

Don't forget eBay. I've purchased many for several odd-ball applications. I've usually ended up with a package of a hundred for what I was willing to pay for just the one I needed.

What I've linked is an example, not a suggestion . . .

I appreciate you offering yours! You might pull the buttstock and disassemble it in a large bag. That small ball can really take off. I've removed and reinstalled a bunch of them. I lost one ball and didn't find it until a year later. I have a large reloading room, 15' x 25. It has a complete bathroom on one end that you have to do a 90° turn to enter. While cleaning the room, I found that ball behind the toilet. It traveled 25', made the turn, and rolled another 10'. It may have traveled over time, but it took a year to find it.
