New Rossis are Only 20" 357 & 44 Cabines For Now

Post by Deleted User 327 »

I've talked a few times with the Rossi CS types, including last week, and I gained the following perspective:

1st, They are only producing the 20" round barrel carbines at this time and only in 357 Mag & 44 Mag.

2nd, This limited selection is the result of the slower than expected ramp up of production at the new plant coupled with lower than expected current orders. There are no 16" carbines, 20" short rifles, or 24" rifles being produced currently. There are no 45 Colt models being produced currently. All are planned to be phased in as the new facility comes up to production capability.

3rd, They plan to expand the M92 product line eventually to all those models and calibers available before the move to the new plant, i.e. carbines, rifles, short rifles, round and octagon barrels, case hardened and blued receivers, 38/357 Mag, 44 Mag, 45 Colt at a minimum.

Good to know.
I'm glad I have 4 92s, 1-.44/40, 20in bbl, 1-.45 colt, with 16in bbl, 1-.44 mag,20in bbl, 1-.357 mag 20 in bbl.
Probably going to hang on to them. I always take the .45 colt Deer hunting. I worked up a "Rossi, Ruger black hawke 300 grn hunting load for it, and its very accurate. I use open sights only. Its a quick handling little gun in the thick northern Wisconsin woods. I installed Marbles sights on all my Rossi's.

I would like to find a Rio-Grande, in.30-30. Like to make it into a big loop, with 18 in bbl.

My 2 Rossis are both 357 Mag and they are pretty good using Lil'Gun powder. I recently chrono'd my 158grn loads at 1,952fps in my 20" carbine and 2,005fps in my 24" rifle. Impressive for a 160grn class pistol bullet.

Hearing that they are having production issues is not the happiest news......but at least they are building something.

So, when are they getting their shrimp boat fixed, so they can start shipping them?

Seriously, I'm wanting a 20" short rifle in .44-40 w/CCH, to replace the one that got away from me. Still unhappy about that.

I have been stockpiling 92s, I have 8 currently and until I start seeing them back on the shelves they're not going anywhere. It's one of my favorite shooting guns.

LOL. Ain't that the truth, I thought it was a row boat..
I have two .357 octagon barrel rifles, one short, one long. I'd like to get a blued 20" round barrel. I like the new Marlin 1894 but the 92 action is so much nicer.

According to their CS people, when distributors start ordering them. They told me that orders are soft so they have no one to ship to.

That's because they've been unavailable for so long, everybody thinks they went out of business.

This is true.....and they have effectively gone out of business by their choices.
