I'm-a wanting a .44-40, 24" rifle, blued.

And IMO, Rossi needs to pull their heads out and kick up production. They used to make lots of great M92 rifles, in lots of styles and calibers, and for several distributors (LSI, Hartford, etc.).

These 92's are very popular now, and people want them! I think if they started offering what they USED to offer - Ranch Hands, Rio Grandes, Short Rifles, color case hardening, .44-40's, .454's, .480's, etc. - and added more classic calibers like .25-20, .32-20, .38-40, .38-55, etc. - I think they'd sell like hotcakes! And if they kept their prices right, they could own the market!

Thoughts?

Any bottleneck pistol cartridge would be nice.
with todays powders and loadings, and stronger brass, any of them can take care of business.
Must have a revolver to go with, matching caliber of course. +guns

I still want a 25-20, and a good supply of brass, components, dies .... and plenty of time to scratch the itch

Ahhh ... if wishes were fishes ...

It would be great to have a compact lever chambered in .458 SOCOM. I think that would be an awesome quick handling piece of business in something like a '92. At a COL of 2.26" it would be a little shorter than a .460 S&W, but longer than a .454 Casull. Don't know if a '92 frame could accommodate such, but it could be a faster handling piece than lever in .45-70. Plus .458 rings "thumper" more loudly than .452.

Been shooting a friends 41 Mag Marlin. It's a nice caliber. I'd love to see Rossi make the 92 in this.

Welcome to the forum John. I'm not sure why Rossi has never had an interest in either of these cartridges. There are enough reloaders and those that would "die up" if they could find an affordable modern rifle for the cartridges.

My wish is that Rossi would offer a prewar 1894 esque 30-30 clone.

Agreed. Strangely, I think the 32wcf would outsell the 38. I'd be happy to be proven wrong though. :-)
