Best Scope Mount Savage 340

Post by vvllbs »

Went to LGS and was hoping the nice checkered Savage 340 was a Hornet, it was not. Even though it was a .223 I took her home. Did not come with a mount and I have to drive over an hour to find one (Houston) and am not guaranteed to come up with one. The finish bluing and stock (youth) are superior to a .222 I picked up years ago. Only took my .222 to the range once and hunted with it once before I was offered 4X what I paid for it. So many choices for scope mounts for a discontinued model, I was amazed to see so many styles and brands on eBay. Will be a nice truck gun and hunting rifle. I sold a revolver yesterday so it was an easy buy. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've used both the Weaver and Sun Optics. Both about the same in my opinion.

I checked the Savage Shooters forum, and all are in agreement with RD. Only thing I can add is that Sun Optics = B-Square.

I went a bit different and figured out a scout mount for mine. It is a Wild West Guns mount for the Win94 that I filed to match the contour/taper of the barrel.

Got the weaver on account of the nice blue finish. None of my spare scopes fit though. Prolly gonna take on old Redfield or Weaver
