Hope it's not dead!
I just got on here recently, new 92-44, never had a levergun before. Would have turned it back in for refund or warranty but started reading here (my normal use for a forum, lurking? Research!). In a few days I learned how to correct problems and smooth up the action. Have spent a few bucks so far instead of hiring it out or buying expensive "fixes". Just because posts might have slowed doesn't mean this place is not a good resource.

Maybe I can help by posting a lot! (Appropriate response would be "NOOOOO!")

And yeah, I got kinda flamed on another board by a guy from a gun control country, couldn't have a difference of opinion without getting personal. I like this place.

Post as you wish. I do not expect a giant flurry of activity here and if there is, I look at the source because that would be abnormal. We get along fine.

A very niche group here, the Rossi following. Activity ebbs, and flows. When Rossi expands its product, we grow slightly; we do the same here when they shrink. Everyone seems to stay on the topic well; we also tend to keep the politics out of things as there are plenty of places to engage in that. Honestly, from my side, it has taken very little to manage. Members have been polite; the few that haven't been are gone immediately.

Sounds good. Sometimes I fail to keep up a conversation, but that means I'm not buggin ya so much!
Might not wait for Rossi to make more stuff, read a few threads about fixing used guns.
I love to shop at pawn shops, just don't like to spend a lot of $$$ ! Now I'll be keepin an eye out
for levers as well as a Browning A5 or equiv. Saw a project video, how to make a cool house gun.
Wood furniture, short barrel, etc.

The cousin forum to this (Lee Loader) hasn't had a post since 6-10. It's not dead either, just taking a nap.

I really just lurk on the Lee Loader Forum. I am still learning a lot there. And I am, so far, lacking in any "informed opinions".
"Tis better to be silent and thought the fool than to open my mouth and remove all doubt."
On this forum, I "think" I fit in better and if I seem the fool with you guys, well I'm a big boy and can take it.

I follow the Savage Shooters forum, and I’m always amazed at the people who get questions answered and disappear without so much as a how-do-you-do. Rossi Riflemen are much more polite.

I have rarely gotten good deals at pawnshops. Gun shows more often, but those seem to be less frequent. I’ve gotten a few on Armslist, but not since they started charging for membership. These days, I’d join a gun club and watch the bulletin board, but none to be had locally.

I’ll put in a plug for the Savage 720/745/775, if you’re open to an A5 clone. Remington made one too, but I don’t recall the model number.

I'll be around here at least as long as this "92 project" is still going!

Haven't bought much at pawn shops but they didn't pay much for anything they have for sale, and they don't wanna keep any of it. Can't hurt to bargain / haggle. If price doesn't get reasonable there are plenty more places to look. (Got a new-looking chainsaw at one, not even dirty, don't think it was used at all, talked 'em down to my spending threshold. You know, cheap!)

Yeah there are several clones of the A5, I'd be happy with any of them, even a little beat up. The idea was kind of a "coffee table" gun, I think it was a utoob vid. Barrel bulge if possible, get it cheap, saw it off, refinish the wood. Maybe distress the wood if it looks too good.

Let's see, got a list on my phone somewhere...
Yep, I tend to combine notes so the data gets obscured.
Browning A5
FN A5
Rem Model 11
Savage Model 720

I'll add the other Savage models to my notes. Probably never find one, or won't be in a spending mood, etc.
Actually I'm kinda surprised at myself buying the 92 only a friend has one and likes it, he says I shoulda got the 45 Colt like he got but I just gotta be different. Maybe get one of those too some day.
