I couldn't stand it , so yesterday I loaded up a few 44 mags with that 1967 vintage Dupont 5066 to see if it would go POP!
Of course it did , and I managed a couple of decent groups for a quickly thrown together load.
7.5 grains of powder and a cast 250gr SWC (429421) Burn rate is between Green Dot and PB, so it's just a tic faster than my favorite Unique.

Thats a nice group.
I would say all that powder is good to go, not a thing wrong with it.

that 870 used to be real popular in the 30-06 and larger 30 cal's with 250gr. bullets.
it was also basically used as a one load only per bullet weight in the 270 weatherby.

Maybe that's what he was using it in. His son said that he was a national level shooter, and just one X away from making the Olympic team.
But seems to me that if you shot any at all, you wouldn't have so much OLD powder left. Unless this is all that was left from a really big amount, after shooting for decades,

FYI: A good free program for shrinking pics' filesize, works in linux, windows, mac...

When it opens you click anywhere in the window, then File, open, then View, resize.
Pretty easy to use.

Awesome and congratulations, wish the pics still worked. I'd like to see some of the old cans. I've never heard of H375.
