Cfe pistol powder with 180gr cast bullets

Post by Johnnyjr »

Looking in the hodgdons manual there is only data for 180 gr jacket bullets. Is it safe to use this data in my 357 mag rifle. I have other powders but wanted to try this out as well. I have heard you can use the jacketed data but wasn't sure. Appreciate any replies..

Should be safe. Probably don't want to go much above the middle of the loads until you check for leading. This is how I found my loads for the 180 grain Penn bullets that I shoot in my 357 and my 35 Rem.

My advice is to check for leading each shot until you know whether it is happening or not.
You don't want it to sneak up on you.

Yes, good advice, once leading starts it can avalanche on you.
