Weight's up to you.
OAL is up to the rifle.

Exact fit of the cartridge guides _and_ the oft changed ejector spring will have a lot to do with what feeds, but most important is bullet shape.

Truncated cones, semi-keith, full keith, round nose, round nose flat tip.... You get the picture.

Bring a brush. The throat will need more cleaning.

My Rossi likes the .38's long or else they won't feed.

Since mine is chambered in .357 (and .44 Mag) I tend to prefer the longer cartridges.
I do shoot a little .38 SP in my 92 but mostly it is to watch a new shooter rip through 5 rounds of .38 SP and then start 5 rounds of .357 Magnum.

Even when you warn them how you are loading it, and I always do, They always look up on that 6th round and either giggle or ask what they did wrong.

Add my 2 cent to this. I've been shooting mostly 38 Spl. from my R92 since I have a load of 38 Spl brass and very little 357 Mag. I'm using 158 gr. RNFP Missouri Bullets load to 1.475" with the pressure cranked up to +P.

If I come across more 357 Mag. brass I'll switch over. But, until thing start to get back to normal it's 38 Spl. loads for me.
