Winchester 92 short rifle

Post by golfish »

I just love 92 short rifles, when I saw this in 45 colt I had to have one. I took it out to the Mojave yesterday.
The guns shoots beautiful, very smooth action but a little stiff which is expected for a new gun.
I never considered this caliber because the factory ammo is so darn expensive.

Now the bad. The forearm had a slight rattle out of the box, after 50 rounds it was considerably more than slight. This is my first Miroku, I'm disappointed that this one made it through QC.

I sent it back back to the Browning service/repair shop in Missouri this afternoon. I thought about fixing it myself, but decided to let them deal with it. If it was a Rossi or Marlin I probably would have fixed it, those two shops don't have the best customer service record.

I'm not sure I did the right thing. The customer service rep was very helpful and responded to my emails very quickly. He urged me to send it in and said it would be taken care off.

I'll keep ya posted

I would believe you did the right thing. I sent a Browning BLR rifle back for warranty repair in recent past. I was provided return authorization and a prepaid shipping label. Work was completed and piece was returned within about 2-weeks.

Did you try loosening the forend cap screws, pushing back on the cap, then tightening the screws back up? I'd have done that first.

Yeah, that's about all I did. There isnt much of a adjustment there.
I've had my Rossi rifles apart. I'm guessing I could have taken the gun apart and see if I could have tried to move (I'll call it a mounting block) that block back. I'm not sure if that block it tacked in or not. I didn't bother to check it.
I paid premium money for it to be right.

you spent that much on a rifle it should have been correct. I would hope they will go through it and make sure it is perfect before sending it back to you.
