Yes, I sent him the rifle and $250. Last I heard he was running 4 to 5 weeks so about the time ice is out and the state range is back open I'll have the "toy" to play with. Last weeks gun show was disappointing as the guy I usually get my lee stuff and brass from wasn't there. Ordered brass dies and a trimmer from Midway for about the same price and got in on a free shipping deal. Ordered Saturday evening had it yesterday.

Midway's free shipping deal wasn't up to snuff for me last go around.
It excluded 'items over 10 lbs' which was the Grendel brass, the Rainier 50 bullets, the Beowulf brass.
I ended up not buying any of it from them at least for now and I've been checking other suppliers.

I like Midway but one of their AR Stoner parts turned out to be damaged when I received it and I didn't notice during the return/warranty period since I didn't get around to using it in a build immediately. That's put a bit of a damper on my impulse buys from them.

If the USPS tracking is to be believed the rifle should be back today. So sticking around to wait the mail.

Well, now tracking says it's out for delivery by 8PM.
We'll see :)

Edit: and it made it about 4 this afternoon. Commitments tomorrow so range day Friday I hope.

The last time I ordered magazines off the net tracking showed them leaving somewhere in Michigan or Missouri going to St. Louis and back about twice before they actually started heading west for CA.
In fact I think they spent a week listed as going in circles.
I might have even made an inquiry of the merchant as they were supposed to have been delivered before they stopped going back and forth.

Being older than the 'Amazon Prime' generation and recalling the Sears Wish book X-mas waiting I'm rarely in a hurry for stuff bought mail order but I thought that was a bit much.

Finally made it to the range with the Marlin. Ran a box of 20 HSM cowboy loads through it and function is flawless. As an aside I not sure I'm impressed with that particular loading. Indoors at 25 yards I had to run the elevator all the way up to get a 6 o'clock hold to center in a 8" bull. Maybe it's the nature of rifle cowboy loads. I will say the muzzle flash and smoke were impressive.

Right now my only "complaint" is the Marlin cross bolt safety. Being left handed I discovered it's easy to bump it with the trigger finger. I've never been one for removing safeties but I may need to make and exception in this case. The Rossi safeties have never been a problem, my other 336 is pre-safety and the Henry uses a transfer bar arrangement. Going to have to give this some serious thought.

I'm glad to hear that the rifle is in hand and shot. Will be watching your load work!
