There is a very nice Spanish-made 92 clone at auction in Iowa -

It’s mis-identified as a 94. These were chambered in 44 Largo, the Spanish equivalent of 44-40. I’ve been tempted by these before, but I’ll stick with my 44 Mag Rossi. The barrel band with the integral sling loop is nice. The iron sights are very functional and the wood isn’t shabby.

Do ya suppose the metallurgy of these old spanish carbines would be up to the task ?

Re: El Tigre at Auction
Informative video about El Tigre and Spanish patent law regarding cloned American firearms. The receiver contouring is certainly closer to the orig. Winchesters than is the Rossi R92. According to Ian, the El Tigre was only produced in .44-40 caliber and only as a 20 inch carbine lever.
Nice looking old carbine, but like you, I'd prefer to stick with .44 magnum and .45 Colt chamberings.

Hammered down for $675, plus internet premium, plus shipping, plus tax, plus FFL fee. Not the deal that they used to be. Granted, this one was in good shape.

Re: El Tigre at Auction
.44-40 can be .429" or .434". Anywhere in between is common. I wouldn't consider a .44-40 for that reason.
