How old is my Rio Grande?

Post by Phil Morris »

I've done a bunch of searching on the site and I've read a ton of old posts but have not yet discovered the key to dating my two Rossis. It isn't super important but I have a date slot on my gun spreadsheet and would like to fill it if possible lol.

I read a post here that mentioned dates on various parts of the gun. I took the stock off of my 45-70 and found three different places (stock, inside tang) marked "15". I thought I was onto something so I took the stock off my 30-30 and found the stock marked "7785" and the tang marked "8015". I can't make any sense out of that. Anyone have a suggestion on determining the mfg date or should I let it go and just move on?

Since Rossi removed the DOM Finder from their website, the only way to find out is to call customer service.
