Post by Ranch Dog »

Not my offering but found while browsing. Not many appearing nowadays. See description on how to make an offer outside of GB through the business that listed the rifle.

Saw that, ran the s/n through Rossi and it was made in 2012 IIRC

Large loop though and $500 is alot to pay for a gun with a MSRP less than $400. I for one will be waiting for the next batch from the factory

Thanks for the tip

It will be interesting to see if the 2017 model has the big loop or not as previously all the 45-70 had it. Personally, I think it is needed so you don't bust your knuckles at the shot. I had mine reduced slightly by Mule Works. I also had the loop on my 454 Casull enlarged by Mule Works as reduce cracking my fingers at the shot.

It will be interesting to see if they even produce it this year.

Didnt know all 45-70 Rios were large loop, kinda bummer for me since ive got small hands. If i ever got one i wonder if a 336 lever would drop in

As to availability i dunno, the nice ladies on the Rossi chat box seem to think Rios will ship by "the end of the year" for hunting season

I would have to look at some of my old notes but I think the immediate answer is no. I believe I pulled my 30-30 and tried it and part inside the receiver is too thick as to get that 45-70 Govt case past the lever as it must be very thin.

Remain positive as I noticed that it is no longer referred to as an RG4570 but a new product number.

Well MAYBE they've managed to fix what was wrong with the RG!
Everybody cross your fingers and write all the things users have had to fix on the back of a sketch of the RG4570 so you can burn it like a voodoo doll!

IF they do come out with new ones that LOOK right I might just have to go there...

Okay, how about this one. Goofy set of rings on it but it seems reasonable and closes within 12 hours.

Those rings seem like an Awful lot of trouble just to not have to change or remove the rear sight.

Seems like a damn good deal though, at the time of this posting theres 6h left and price is still ~$310 with free shipping

He is probably getting rid of it because of those rings. I would imagine if you shoot it with the existing mounts you will get the snot knocked out of you. Your cheek would have no weld on the stock.

I don't think there is free shipping, here is what it reads "Buyer pays actual shipping costs for the following option(s): Ground"
