LoL!

They did have a high pressure 1892 ONLY load that was probably a bit better than a cheap slingshot.
Winchester puts out a 200 grain pill that lists a muzzle velocity of 1190 BTW.
Of course it is still a rainbow at 200 yards and they don't publish the drop beyond 300...

Looks like they produced a load in the 90s for the Marlins, although I think a bud of mine said Winchester sold him some for the 92 around that time as well. Claimed he had to sign an affidavit for it.

Even though the .44 Mag out of a rifle lists 1600 FPS it's still a bit of a push at any real range.

I don't shoot mine all that much...it's so pretty that I figure I will scratch it...but, it's a real jewel.

My latest acquisition is an AR in .458 Socom. It has a pretty good arc as well but that's just the nature of big fat bullets, I guess. Hits like an 8 lb hammer, tho. But there is just something about lever guns...

One of my coworkers has a 50 Beowulf that I want to try.
We've missed 3 range appointments so far on that one so I might end up buying one before we both get to the range at the same time.

The Beowulf can handle more pressure than the .458 Socom and deliver quite a bit more energy down range. On the other hand, the Socom has a pretty good selection of rifle bullets and uses a stock .223/5.56 magazine.

I have been playing with loads with mine and it shoots pretty well at a 100 yds. Seems to be around 2150 ft-lbs at 1725 f/sec for the 325 gr bullets I have been loading...not the cheapest round to load but it is fun!
