The forearm, barrel bands and cross bolt have in many cases been poorly fitted to the metal detracting from accuracy and resulting in the forearm eventually cracking & splitting under recoil.

Okay, you need to take the Magazine Tube Band off as well. There is wood between the barrel and the magazine tube. Take it apart this way:Quinc wrote:I got the barrel band off, I just couldn't the get the forearm to budge off the rifle.
That must be where I went wrong. I didn't even try to pull out the mag tube first. - Remove the Magazine plug (8) and spring
- Remove the Magazine Ring (10)
- Remove the Forearm (tip) Band (15)
- Pull out the Magazine Tube
- Now pull off the forearm.
