Judging from the pictures I think the plug is much more conspicuous that the little bolt safety switch which provides a margin of safety when unloading the gun or test chambering ammo which I do before any hunt.

Re: Disassemble and Reassembly of the Rossi m92 and Bolt
People are still forgetting completely about the front end of the gun like it didn't exist.
The forearm, barrel bands and cross bolt have in many cases been poorly fitted to the metal detracting from accuracy and resulting in the forearm eventually cracking & splitting under recoil.
RD has covered this problem in detail on other threads.

I tried for about 10 minutes to get the forearm off and couldn't do it. Well didn't want to break anything. So I just let it be.

That loop is sweet! Where did you get it?!Clinebo wrote:I bought Steves DVD and ended up ordering new sights and a large loop lever for mine. It looks and functions much better now. I printed out the step by step pictures from another sites thread to help. I also had small paper plates that I would write the part name on and then tape it to the plate. That way if I got busy doing other things, when I came back everything would be in its place. I deleted the bolt safety with the plug and replaced the plastic mag follower with the metal one.

Specifically, what could you not get loose?Quinc wrote:I tried for about 10 minutes to get the forearm off and couldn't do it. Well didn't want to break anything. So I just let it be.

Remove the magazine tube from the rifle after you remove the barrel band from the forearm and the forearm should then come off much more easily.

Okay, you need to take the Magazine Tube Band off as well. There is wood between the barrel and the magazine tube. Take it apart this way:Quinc wrote:I got the barrel band off, I just couldn't the get the forearm to budge off the rifle.
- Remove the Magazine plug (8) and spring
- Remove the Magazine Ring (10)
- Remove the Forearm (tip) Band (15)
- Pull out the Magazine Tube
- Now pull off the forearm.

That must be where I went wrong. I didn't even try to pull out the mag tube first. What did people do before internet message boards?!Ranch Dog wrote:Okay, you need to take the Magazine Tube Band off as well. There is wood between the barrel and the magazine tube.
